COLLABORATIONS

Discovering Home Collection in collaboration with Justine Sterling Design
It was a decade long dream for Justine Sterling to create a curated collection of products. Fortunate for me, I happened to walk into her office last February to show her my textile designs. As one of the leading interior designers in the Boston area, Justine Sterling Design has built a portfolio of residential projects varying from small, urban condominium redesigns to kitchen renovations to entire home remodeling endeavors. Her portfolio was impressive and I had high hopes of working with her.

After we walked through my designs, Justine got a sparkle in her eye and began to ask questions. She had an idea…a vision for a possible pillow collection based on the Proteas flower which grows wild and abundant in her home of Cape Town, South Africa. And all at once we both could see that together we could make it happen.

From that day on, the collaboration came easy for us. I shared some concepts to bring her ideas to life. And after sourcing some beautiful Proteas and photographing them for inspiration and ultimately designs, the idea became reality. We created a color palette inspired by the colors of South Africa (leaf, sand, stone, and ocean), and spent time working on refining the fabric and finishing.

We are both so excited to share “The Discovering Home Collection” with you— Justine and I cannot wait to see how you will use them in your designs and your homes. Now live on justinesterling.com

Housse Studio for Republic of Decor
Republic of Decor, located in the Naples Design District, is a stunning space with floor to ceiling windows and full of beautiful, unique, and trend right products. Its not surprising the space was so beautiful as I found out that David Fruscione—owner and conceptual designer—had worked for nearly 20 years for some of the best brands in retail. Additionally, David and Republic of Decor have won numerous awards. Most recently, David was selected as a finalist for Best Interior Designer by the National Interior Design Society and finished in 2nd Place for an ASID Design Excellance Award.

We met in January as I hand delivered some of my tea-towels, and I was hopeful that there might be an opportunity for us to collaborate. As it turned out, David had just been honored as a chosen designer to work on the newly expanded Ronald McDonald House of Southwest Florida. He mentioned that maybe one of my designs might be fun to use in the powder room. I sent David a presentation of my designs, and the collaboration blossomed from there. David chose one of my designs to customize for the powder-room as planned, but he also asked if I could work with him to develop a collection of pillows and table linens. He chose several of my existing designs and suggested a new palette and some additional design changes to bring them all together. The resulting designs were used on pillows, tea-towels, napkins and place-mats. And displayed in the shop for a trunk show in early March.

The Pillows and Towels can be found in his Shop or can be purchased online at Republic of Decor.

One Room Challenge Collaboration with Ana Vera Design

Instagram is a beautiful thing. It helps us find and connect with like-minded people. It facilitates collaborations and more importantly new friendships. Before June @anaveradesign was an account I followed on Instagram. Now after an amazing collaboration, I am blessed to call Ana a friend. Ana Bonilla is the Owner and Principal of AnaVera Design - a full service interior design firm specializing in creating vibrant and timeless spaces. Ana prides herself on building lasting relationships with her clients, resulting in totally unique and personality infused spaces. And she brings that same passion and her love of color to all her projects. We were kindred spirits in that sense so our experience collaborating on her One Room Challenge project was truly amazing.

I loved every part of creating this custom wallpaper design for Ana. And added bonus was helping her fill her gorgeous gallery wall with some of my artwork. She wrote all about it in her blog, and it’s not only a story about color and design, it’s a story about family and courage and so much more. Read the full story here on her blog, and watch for more info about our next exciting collaboration! The full “De Colores” Collection, named in memory of Ana’s father, will be available soon with additional bold and colorful designs.

One Room Challenge Collaboration with Linda Holt Creative

In the Fall of 2019 a mutual friend introduced me to Linda Holt. Not only did I immediately love her engaging personality, but I admired her work as a designer and photographer. Shortly after, I was delighted when Linda asked me to contribute to her One Room Challenge called #projectfreshstart . Linda asked if I would design some custom linens for her table and some artwork for her lovely dining nook. The Both the artwork and the custom linen designs were created to pick up on the lovely palette of greens and golds from the gorgeous Dunes And Duchess custom table, the Mally Skok Design chairs, and the show-stopping Currey & Company chandelier. And for her kitchen I designed the custom tea towels to compliment the beautiful backsplash while relating to the linens in the nook. So many beautiful details.

Linda truly transformed her open plan living space packing in so much beautiful detail and thoughtfully chosen pieces. It was so impressive to see it all come together. The whole process was inspiring and rewarding and I was so inspired and impressed with the perfectly orchestrated, stunningly beautiful space that Linda created. Read Linda’s blog to learn more about the stunning transformation.

Heading Home to Dinner —Custom Linen Design for Dane Austin Design

We met at a mutual friend’s Summer BBQ. He looked familiar. I asked what he did for a living. I believe at that point I may have spilled a little wine as my hand started to shake with excitment. I had been following Dane Austin’s work for a while as Principal Designer of Dane Austin Design—an award-winning, full-service interior design firm headquartered in Boston, specializing in luxury residential interiors throughout New England, D.C. Metro, and North America.

After my nerves settled and we chatted for a while, we realized we were both taking part in a charity event called Heading Home to Dinner—an event where the Boston Design Community comes together creating tablescapes and bar carts (for auction) in support of Heading Home, Inc’s mission to end homelessness in the Greater Boston area. Dane was creating a tablescape inspired by Alice in Wonderland’s Mad Hatter and we discussed the possibility of having me create some custom linens for his table. In the months to follow, we communicated via email and text to share designs, refine ideas and create the final table napkin design. The dreamy tablescape was a collection of pieces created by all female artists and creatives in the Greater Boston area. From the gorgeous glass iridescent table top, to the dangling feather installation above the table, the tablescape was playful and artful from top to bottom. The palette for the napkin design picked up on the lovely arrangement from Figge Floral Studio, and the design of course included a subtle wavy checkerboard pattern as a nod to the Mad Hatter. It was an amazing learning process for me, and a joy to get to know and create a new friendship with Dane.
